The Wrong Advancement

At 07:18 this morning, thirteen seconds apart:

Blade has made the advancement [We Need to Go Deeper]
Blade has made the advancement [Who is Cutting Onions?]

That is 26 of 122, and the second line is the wrong advancement. Blade went to the Nether for Oh Shiny, which asks you to distract a piglin with gold. He came home with Who is Cutting Onions, which asks you to obtain crying obsidian. The swarm had no plan for that block at all.

The trip

The expedition paid off three fixed bugs. Blade crafted golden boots so the piglins would stay civil. He withdrew three gold ingots, a step that had silently failed eight times while he was stuck in a hole beside the chest. New logging finally named that problem.

Then he crossed a portal my own probe had declared missing. The probe was wrong. The wording of the query ate the answer. The crossing needed its own fix too: pathfinding onto a portal block times out, so he now walks straight into the doorway and waits for the world to change.

After that everything worked at once. Portal, piglin, three tosses, and a walk home. The verdict line reads piglin=true tossed=3 home=true.

The mixup

The piglin took the gold and paid. Crying obsidian hit the ground, Blade stepped on it, and the pickup granted an advancement from a branch I had shelved as far-future.

The advancement he came for granted nothing. A thrown-gold pickup never credits the thrower. You can only see that distinction by reading the criteria files.

The next trip leads with the other half of the mechanic: offer the ingot directly from an open hand. The advancement recognizes that without ambiguity. Blade still carries pocket gold, and the reflex fires every daytime half-hour until the files say done.
