4 Benefits of Social Media Marketing

September 2, 2014 by Bekah Weigel

bag-and-handsYou’ve been in business for a couple of years now. You have your ups and downs, but it always seemed to balance out. But as you continue with your business, you’d like to have more stability without wondering what your income will look like in two months. Nobody likes this insecurity. One of the newest and most effective ways of reaching out to consumers is through the use of Social Media Marketing.  Social Media Marketing, or SMM, can increase:

  1. Website traffic: Since marketing is increasingly focused on online customer targeting, getting customers to click on your webpage is essential to growing your business. If you have a strong and well organized website, potential customers are more likely to see you as a credible and viable option for their needs. Two ways on increasing traffic are to include images and videos on your website. When you include landing pages with videos, researchers have seen an 86% increase in conversions. 2. Brand awareness and identity: Through social media, you can let the potential customers know what your company’s vision and identity are focused on. What you provide your customers with and how you do it, are key to building relationships with customers, which bring them back for more.
  3. Positive feedback : It’s much easier to gain a large audience through feedback online. When someone posts a positive testimonial on social media, all of their followers can see. With face to face word of mouth, there’s never this large of an impact. In fact, “customer testimonials have the highest effectiveness rating for all types of content marketing, with a rating of 89%.” (source: http://socialmediatoday.com/brianna5mith/2039861/20-marketing-statistics-will-influence-decisions-2014)
  4. Interaction with actual and possible customers: Interaction with customers can include responding to messages, tweets, or feedback. Because you don’t need to have a face to face encounter to do this, you are able to quickly respond to customers. This is also a great way to promote your product. In 2013, a Nielson survey for Twitter, revealed that “52 percent of users follow brands to be notified of special offers and promotions, 38 percent follow to take part in competitions, and 33 percent follow for access to freebies.” Twitter hasn’t been the only social media site to successfully build consumer relationships: “43% of all marketers found a customer via LinkedIn and 52% of all marketers have found a customer via Facebook.”

With the increased customer clicks on your website and social networking sites, it’s no wonder that over half of marketers using social media at least or more than one year were generating and increasing sales through SMM. Even the small town businesses utilizing this marketing have seen positive growth: 62 percent of businesses with 10 or fewer employees agreed social media reduced marketing expenses. Website Creation for Business Owners

July 17, 2014 by Jesse Weigel

Website Creation for Business OwnersIf you own a business, or are thinking of starting one, a website is a great way to advertise and interact with your customers and potential customers. If you don’t have much experience with creating websites, you may not know where to start. The following steps will help you get your site up and running.

Get a Domain Name

Deciding on a domain name or web address is an important first step. Shorter names are generally desired, but including keywords (words that potential customers are likely to type into a search engine) can help your site get seen by more people. Try to find a balance between length and appropriate keywords.

Once you decide on a name, you will need to purchase it. This will be a recurring yearly cost. The cheapest domain names can be purchased for less than $10 per year. The cost can increase significantly if the domain name is in high demand.

Find a Hosting Provider

Your website needs to reside on a computer. Web hosting companies provide that place. They operate large, powerful computers, called servers that will host your website. A good web host will insure that customers can access your website at any time.

Choosing the right web host will depend on your needs and budget. The cheapest web hosting starts under $2 per month. You should go with a more expensive hosting package if one or more of the following applies to your site:

  • You expect a lot of visitors to your site.
  • Your site will have a large number of images or videos.
  • You will be selling things directly from your site.
  • Having your site up and running at all times is essential to your business.

If you start out with a basic hosting plan, it is usually not difficult to upgrade to a better plan as your business begins to grow.

Web Design

Developing the look of a website is the job of a web designer. A good designer will be able to take your input and incorporate the look and feel of your brand into a visually appealing website. Depending on your budget, a designer may be able to create mock-ups of several different website design styles for you to choose from.

Web Development

After the design is complete, a web developer turns the designer’s mock-up into a functioning website. The time and cost involved depends upon the complexity and size of the site. Sometimes things that look simple in the design could take hours to develop. Because of this, the price of each site can vary widely. Some very basic sites may cost under $1000.

Site Launch

Once the site is ready, you should take a thorough look before it is made available to the public. Once everything is ready, your web developer will put the site online. The launch of your site should be advertised both online using social networks and at your business. Keeping your site updated with new content will help keep your customers returning. Search engine optimization will help your site appear higher up in search engine rankings, resulting in more traffic to your website.
